'Asda' Roundabout, Canford Heath

Many of you will have noticed the changes to the ‘Asda’ roundabout at the junction of Canford Heath Road, Adastral Road and Culliford Crescent. I am sure you will agree the planting on the roundabout is an improvement, but there is something of a story behind the planting.

Some friends and I were part of a Canford Heath community group that used to organise the Canford Heath Carnival.  Unfortunately, we decided to disband through shortage of volunteers to help.  However, we had a small pot of money left which we wanted to spend on something everyone in Canford Heath could enjoy and appreciate.

Eventually, we came up with the idea to replant this roundabout and contacted Terry Elborn, Canford Heath’s Ranger (Leisure Services), for help.  Terry very kindly designed the layout, chose the heathers and grasses and organised the work to be carried out.  The total cost was a little more than the funds allowed, so Poole Council was persuaded to make up the difference.

The planting on the roundabout has just been finished – it certainly looks much better now but will improve dramatically when the plants have had time to grow!

Thank you Terry, you did a superb job!
