Garden of the Year Competitions 2008

To enter:

  • You can download and print entry forms for each category below (pdf, file sizes 65kb)

  • Simply email us with your details and/or any questions you may have

  • You can pick up an entry form from your local library - available from 26th May

Entries are required by Wednesday, 2nd July and judging takes place soon after Prizes will be awarded at a ceremony at Upton House on Monday, 6th October.

Front Gardens (residential)

Download and print an entry formWe welcome entries for all types of front gardens, large and small, and are particularly interested to hear from residents who have created a drought tolerant garden, and from those who live in flats where residents work together on a communal garden or window boxes, for instance.

We make several awards in this competition and they tend to be determined by each year's entries, including for instance Front Garden of the Year, Best New Entry, Best Traditional Summer Garden, and Best Communal Garden (see 2007 awards).

To enter please download, print and post an entry form (pdf, file size 65kb), or simply email Denise with your name, address & telephone number.  Garden of the Year competition entry forms are also available from Poole libraries.

You can also nominate a friend, relative or neighbour for a prize - simply complete an application form on their behalf and tick the 'nominated' box.

Entries are required by Wednesday, 2nd July and judging takes place soon after Prizes will be awarded at a ceremony at Upton House on Monday, 6th October.

Please note: gardens submitted for judging should be created by residents, rather than by professional gardeners.


Council-owned Sheltered Housing Scheme Gardens

We welcome entries from sheltered housing scheme managers and residents across the Borough.

We award prizes in three categories – Best Sheltered Housing Site, Best Community Frontage and Best Individual Frontage.

To enter please email Sarah at Leisure Services to request an entry form.

Entries are required by Wednesday, 2nd July and judging takes place soon after Prizes will be awarded at a ceremony at Upton House on Monday, 6th October.


Commercial Frontages

Download & print an entry formWe welcome entries from all types of businesses, large and small. 

We award prizes for several categories of Commercial Frontages including, for instance Best Pub Frontage, Best Small Business, Guest House, Hotel, Café/Restaurant, Social Club/Community Centre and Leisure Frontage (see 2007 awards). 

To enter please download, print and post an entry form (pdf, file size 65kb), or simply email Denise with your company name & address together with a contact name & telephone number.  Garden of the Year competition entry forms are also available from Poole libraries.

Entries are required by Wednesday, 2nd July and judging takes place soon after Prizes will be awarded at a ceremony at Upton House on Monday, 6th October.
